This post is written for Friday Fictioneers. The challenge is to write a complete story with a beginning, middle and end in 100 words or less using the picture prompt below.

A milky glass chandelier cast a dim diffused light on an elaborate set table covered by a white stained tablecloth. The dark décor matches the dismal depressing environment outside. Madame Altamont’s dinner guest will be arriving shortly. The Party Chairman, the Minister of Defense and even the bald-headed rotund Minister of Information will arrive in separate armored limos.
Madame Altamont greeted the Party Chairman and escorted him to his seat of honor.
Under this seat could be seen a clock with red blinking lights. History will be made in 1:20; 1:19,…..
It may not solve world hunger, but it’s fun trying. Well conceived, Danny.

Wow, great last line. But, whose waiting in the wings to take over? Great start to a much bigger story.

Seems like those armored limos weren’t necessary after all. Good take on the prompt

I’m wondering if the rest of the cast will arrive before or after the main event.

¡Viva La Revolución! You can’t make a chandelier without breaking some dishes, and you can’t make a new government without blowing up the previous government. Good one.

Scary tale. Love the ending tension.

This has an immense sense of foreboding Danny well written 🙂

Taking out the heads of a government during dinner is akin to a Mafia tactic. However, will the replacement leaders be any better?

I don’t like the odds.

I’ve always hated having to defuse a bomb before dessert, but someone’s got to do it, and I do have my Swiss army knife with me. Sigh

You would make a good Cub Scout.

I wonder if changing the cast will change as much as madame thinks

Good point. You sometimes think things can’t get any worse. Suddenly they become the good old days.
