This post is written for Friday Fictioneers.

I woke to the sound of fabric ripping. The sound of an angry bear accompanied the next slash. Evening light streamed through the opening. The front of the tent suddenly collapsed to the right. The sight of the huge animal filled that void. Suddenly it stood and the blood red eyes focused on the remains of the meal I had just finished. I desperately tried to find the zipper on my sleeping bag. I realized I did not have time to escape. I quickly covered my head and slipped as far down as I could. The first blow was lethal.
The worst attack I ever experienced whilst in my little tent was by a nosy fox!

Still it would scare me to death.

Hmmm–is this an after-death post, or was the first lethal blow not aimed at you?

It was intended to be an after-death post but I see your point.

Well, it works fine as an after-death, which is what I immediately thought. Just checking 🙂

You gotta watch out for us bears… we DO like our picnic baskets, especially ones with zippers that hold such tasty surprises. Giggles… Glad you made it through Irma and are back with us.

Not very bear-proof, sleeping bags…

Glad Irma hasn’t interrupted your writing. Shame a bear got you in the end after all that 🙂

I’ve been told not to eat in bed, but I didn’t realize that the penalties could be so catastrophic. 😉

Well…it’s been nice knowing you. Lest this be prophetic I’d encourage you to avoid bear-filled woods on dark night’s. Avoid hurricanes and alligator infested flood waters too, if possible.
Good story, by the way. 🙂

Just trying to be helpful. Your lifestyle would be much more restricted if you were inside a bear or ‘gator. 😉

70-80 mph winds. No structural damage. Lots of tree damage. Without power for 70 hours. Lesson learned: I love electricity!
