“I’m so glad George and Mary invited us to this party, aren’t you Leon?”
“Yes, it’s been quite a while since we have been out together. I’ve missed seeing our old friends. George looks liked he’s aged a bit don’t you think? Look at those wrinkles!”
“Don’t look in the mirror much do you honey? You seem to have your fair share my dear.”
“I do indeed my fair Alice. And may I say you look quite stunning in your purple dress. You know that’s one I gave you many years ago on our 50th wedding anniversary. I remember that day well. You actually glowed in my mind. But I must say those flowers look a tad wilted.”
“The flowers may be a bit wilted my dear Leon, but my love for you has not wilted. Your leather jacket makes you look absolutely stunning. We do make quite the dashing couple! I think we have a shot at winning the prize!”
“What prize Alice?”
“Why the prize for the best couple costume.”
“Costume? I didn’t know it was a costume party.”
“Come on, one last dance before it’s too late. We do have to be back before dark.”
“Be back before dark”,,, nice twisted ending for closure. Enjoyed the read.
