Cell Phone Customer Service

I’m trying hard not to get frustrated with my current/past carrier. My wife and I had two cell phones with the same company. I transferred my number to a different carrier. That took a week. Then I wanted to transfer my wife’s number to my old cell phone from her phone (because mine was newer and had a camera). Same carrier keep in mind. My first call to them was Monday. After finally making it through to tech support they informed me that it would take a few hours to accomplish this and would call me back. No call back Monday. Called Tuesday, customer service rep went over yesterday’s events and apologized for technical support not returning my call. A repeat of Monday. Again tech support did not return my call.  I made the fourth call this morning and was told it would take an additional 24 to 48 hours to FINISH transferring my number. Meanwhile my wife has no cell phone.

I won’t name the carrier but none of the calls were great calls!

The Demise of “Thank You”

What ever happened to cashiers saying “Thank You” to a customer after making a purchase?

I didn’t notice any thing in the obituaries about this demise of an age-old tradition.

I remember working for my father, who owned a farm market, and when a customer made a purchase you would always say “Thank You and Come Again”. We would even count out change to a customer: “That was $1.39 total. Out of five? This makes $1.40, $1.50, $2, $3, $4 and $5.” When’s the last time that happened to you?

Today, more often than not the cashier will ring up your purchase and throw your change in your outstretched hand, with your receipt and 6 coupons you will never use, and never grunt a word in recognition of your purchase. And I swear, the majority can’t make change without looking at the check out computer to determine how much you are due in return.

Ok, off my soapbox…for now
