This post is written for Friday Fictioneers. The challenge is to write a complete story with a beginning, middle and end in 100 words or less. My story follows the picture prompt below.

Now’s the time to get slim. The old crock pot that grandma gave us for our wedding anniversary. The trip we made to Gettysburg and the map of the battlefields that held my interest for a total of two days. The many books that I was always meaning to finish. The old Sunbeam mixing bowl you used to make the best whipping cream ever. That ridiculous dreary painting that you insisted was worth a fortune. It wasn’t by the way! So many things we thought were precious now are but a dusty reminder of what once was. I miss you!
The down side of those objects are the emotions that get triggered when you look at them, both good and not so good. Well-written story, Danny.

Of the many things I’ve let go of over the years, I regret only the loss of books. Well done, Danny.

Same here. Twice in my like I had to part with books from my library. Wasn’t my choice. Now the majority are on my IPad.

I will not do it again.

Truth. Things a valuable to us because of the memories they engender.

Story pulls at heart strings. The kind that needs to be read more than once.

Yes, every piece has a history and a memory of a precious moment.

A sweet story, remembering things about collected stuff that annoyed the character, but bringing back cherished memories. Nicely done.

Sadness came over, but also a hint of mystery

Getting slim may be an unachievable goal given the emotional cargo of those objects
