This post is written for Friday Fictioneers. My story follows the picture prompt which this week is provided by Piya Singh. Some additional stories from some very talented authors can be found by clicking on the little blue frog at the end of this post.
“Just wait until you see it.
I guaranteed you will fall in love with it.
It’s everything we always wanted.
It only has one bedroom, but we can add an additional one in a few years once the bucks start rolling in from my new start-up business.
And RUSTIC! God Marge, this place is truly rustic. It even has a little stream out front. A stream Marge! Can you believe it!
Did I tell you it was made of stone? Now how is that for construction. This baby will withstand any type of weather you can throw at it.”
Good story, Danny. He’s probably already spent most of their savings on his “start-up” and they won’t be able to afford more. Surprise, surprise. Poor wife. ๐ฆ Well done. ๐ — Suzanne

Ha ha. Just a tad too optimistic methinks. It won’t matter how much he keeps talking, when she sees it…

This guy must have worked in real estate at one time. He’s got a great sales pitch. I found myself almost wanting to buy the property. Nicely written!

Ha ha! I don’t think she will be as enthusiastic somehow! ๐

Methinks he’s being a little over-enthusiastic about this “bargain”. It’ll end in tears, I tell you!

Hmm… if she’s up for some “shire” feel, then no need to worry. Haha! But I find it funny that he had to add that tiny detail in the end… I’m guessing he has his doubts too?

He may be trying to sell himself, that’s true.

Don’t you just hate sales people?

Absolutely, because of their insincerity and insensitivity once the sales is made!

I think it might work out… just add an orangery in the back and it will be perfect.

Had to google “orangery” but you are correct. Just might do the trick.

I echo Sandra’s sentiments.
Doesn’t sound like it’s going to have a happy ending.

I like this, it has a fresh feeling, and leaves the reader to make their own outcome.

I’m hoping she’ll share his enthusiasm. I’m guessing she won’t. Good one.
