Alfred knew it was time to leave.

Eleven years in a  dead end job was enough. He was still single. He rented an old house his uncle owned. In fact he lived next door to his uncle. The winters were getting unbearable. This, plus the fact he had taken two weeks vacation last February and spent it in Arizona. He realized he was a huge bore.

So on July 1st he held a going away party where three of his friends showed up to say goodby. His mother and father were invited but did not attend.

So he got everything he owned and rented a four by six trailer and headed to Tucson Arizona. Empty beer cans fell off the rear bumper of the trailer as he sped away on his new adventure.

Great story. Living in Arizona some of us LOVE the heat. Less crowds, lower prices and as you know its a dry heat. I am looking forward to reading more of your posts.

Thanks for commenting! I lived in Tucson for 8 years. Would have been there longer but my employer (IBM) thought I should move to CA.

Haha! He probably picked the hottest month in Tuscon to move there! But, that’s the fun of adventures – you don’t plan ahead. Great story, Danny!

I found the title to this funny for several reasons. Back in the 70’s my dad moved to Tucson in July. Worked as a carpenter there. In 2008 I moved to Phoenix in June. Having spent seven years there, I understand why no one should visit the Valley of the Sun in the summer months. Thanks for a nostalgic story.

Thanks for commenting. I too lived in Tucson for eight years. I am probably one of the few people that enjoy the heat in Tucson.
