This short flash fiction story is written for Friday Fictioneers. My story follows the picture prompt below.

Leon broke the news to Sara that he was getting out of Detroit on the next train tomorrow. His gang brothers had it in for him for ratting on Little Andy and his runners. The runners had turned on him out of fear for themselves. He had no choice but to get out. He told Sara he was going to California.
He started gathering his things right away. There was no time to waste. Once packed he darted for the stairs at the rear of the apartment complex.
At the bottom of the stairs he saw Little Andy himself.
