The benefit event at the Elks Club had been a huge success. Returning to Olivia’s house, Juanita had shared a few drinks in celebration. Olivia, recognizing her friends inebriated state, offered to walk her home.
“It’s only two homes down Olivia, I’ll be just fine. You can’t get a DUI by just walking,” Juanita slurred.
The neighbor said she discovered Juanita face down in snow when she went out to clear her car of snow at about 7 a.m. on Sunday.
The temperature at 7 a.m. on Sunday in the Lakewood area was 10 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Sad but with a ring of truth. I like where this prompt took you, Danny. There’s always room for a cautionary tale.
All my best,

Death through carelessness is one thing, that poor friend, though, has to live with the regrets. Good, sad story.

What a way to go, drunk, face down in the snow.
Good take on the prompt.

That’s very sad. So close to home. I’m assuming the “10 degrees” is Fahrenheit, which sounds very cold. (Actually I just looked it up and it’s -12C, which is indeed very cold!) I’m guessing all the drink inside her didn’t help at that temperature either.

So sad. Could happen to anyone. Guns? I don’t read guns anywhere!

You read about it. I guess if your number is up, it’s up. Nicely done.

Booze and Guns. Not a very good mix for sure. Not even a good name for a band.

Dear Danny,
Bad day to linger outside, eh? A well put together take on the prompt.

A great little cautionary tale. 🙂 A young fellow-worker went drinking and hunting, (Oh good! Alcohol and firearms – what could go wrong?) sat down on a stump to take another swig, and passed out face-down in a snowdrift. If one of his drunken friends hadn’t found him, he’d have suffocated.
