Written in response to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields Friday Fictioneers Challenge. The challenge is to write a complete story, beginning, middle, and end in 100 words or less. My story follows the photo. The old-timer and the new kid, on a twelve step call, arrived at the cave mid morning. Their intended convert lived there. His “home” was located deep in a hollow in the mountains of West Virginia. The county disposal site was his front yard.
The man they had come to talk with was already drunk. The old-timer was having a difficult time convincing him to quit drinking. Turning to the new kid he said “You talk to him.”
The new kid, turning to their target, said “You realize it you don’t quit drinking you will lose all this.”
Danny, Hilarious. 😀 You really shouldn’t tell a man who has nothing that he’ll lose it. 🙂 The boy needs to observe and learn a bit more.Well written with great humor. 🙂 — Susan

Thanks Susan. I think he had pretty well lost everything about that time. Perhaps it was his “rock bottom” that he was experiencing.

Dear Danny,
I used to live in a cramped room with Confusion and Pain….
This was a great story. When I got to the last line I broke out laughing and immediately read it again. Your deadpan humor struck just the right nerve. Very well done.

I felt the same way about the last line. Then….I’ve been told I have a wicked sense of humor. Glad you enjoyed and always a pleasure to have you stop by.

Dear Danny,
I smiled, then I laughed. I think the new kid needs a better argument. Very well done.
